Merry December

Hope everyone is well.  The months go by so quickly.  I am always lagging far behind with my blogging.  When I have a moment to write a post it has been months since my last post.

Not much really new going on at the house.  I am all ready for the Christmas season, my decorating is done so I can sit back and enjoy it all because before I know it I will be taking things down and packing them away for another year.  I do not put out as much as I once did, although this year I put up two table top trees, one in the living room and one in the dining room.  I love the twinkle of the lights and the old ornaments, they fill me with happiness and sadness at the same time.  I look to the future but also long for the past.

I hope everyone has a very blessed and Merry Christmas and the most happy New Year.

Happy October 1st...Love this time of year

Hello everyone!  It seems that my days are filled with so many other projects that I neglect my blog.  Today I am taking a break from living life to the fullest and to enjoy this beautiful day in quiet.  The days/months are going by too quickly.  My mother once told me that when you get older it will seem that way, well, it really seems that way!

A few photos of my autumn decorations around the home.  I love to decorate for all the seasons/holidays and special events.  I hope you will enjoy seeing Fall in my home.

Wishing everyone a beautiful day.

My new antique cupboard...I love changing things up in there and now I can display almost all of my collections of "stuff"!

A little owl on a bittersweet branch.. I have two, one is in the photo below, they actually have feathers, once upon a time these owls were Christmas ornament..

A little antique cupboard in my kitchen ...see the tiny owl in the bowl on the bottom shelf sitting on a bittersweet branch along with a real cotton ball.

I finally finished my penny rug mat...the colors are not as bright as in the photo.  My daughter also worked on this with me!

A year ago we said good bye to our sweet Pug, Zoe.  She was with us for 13 years and was more than a dog, she was part of the family, a sweet/smart and loveable dog.  I still look for her to this day.

If she wasn't sleeping she was always at my side.  When I was working on dolls she would stay with me in the sewing room.  She loved to have her picture taken too!

A new sofa

A few changes have taken place around here.
Well, mostly in my family room...I ordered a new sofa and it arrived last week end.  I never liked the furniture in there, it was typical family room fare, but not my taste and did not go with the rest of the house.  My family room is mostly in reds/whites/and blues and holds things that are dear to me heart and would not want to part with, so that is how the color scheme took place.

My new sofa is a Johnston Benchworks sofa in a red/creamy white check.  I have dreamt of this sofa for nearly 10 years and I love it.  I found two navy and white tiny print on Craigslist, talk about a lucky fine, they are Pennsylvania House chairs and they were a steal.  The house where I picked up the chairs was to die for, they had so many wonderful antiques and furniture and a collection of stoneware like you would not believe, actually a collection of so many great items.  He had a wonderful old cupboard that I fell in love with, but there was no way I could have brought it home.

Here is a picture of my sofa and  my dining room with some azalea blooms I brought inside, never thought of doing that before!

Below is the chair, one of two, this was before the sofa arrived.  The red/blue pillow was made by my mother about 30 years ago, I love this pillow, she used two old velvet dresses and it is all hand stitched!

I also want to wish each and everyone a Happy Mother's Day!
Thanks for stopping by.

A Rainy Day

I guess we need the rain, no wait, we had snow, the ground does not need anymore liquid for awhile, but then again, Mother Nature knows best.

Today my plans are to have coffee or tea with my "peeps" and then find something fun and creative to do.  Wishing everyone a great day.

Spring Ahead

I sure wish I could "spring ahead"...lately I seem to move in slow motion, no spring in my step.  Hopefully with spring time around the corner I will become more motivated.

Lately I have been spending free time on Pinterest, so many great things to "pin".  It helps pass the time and ease the feeling of cabin fever.

I hope all of you are hanging on until the warmer weather finds us.  Till then  try to spring ahead!

Happy Day to one and all!

THEY MET THEIR GOAL AND NOW CAN GET THEIR TRACTOR.
YEAH...I AM SO HAPPY FOR THEM

**********************************************

I have a favor to ask, if any one is out their reading/looking at my blog.  I am hoping that you can find an extra dollar to help out this young couple purchase a tractor for a farm they are starting up in Georgia.  I know Darby from where my son went to college in Sterling Vermont.  She is a sweetheart, has had some knocked downs in her life and has always stood strong.  She is the hardest worker I know and it is my hope to see her and her husband succeed in this endeavor!   So, I know it is down to the wire, but if you can help please do.  All of their produce is grown without chemicals, NO GMO seeds...just honest to goodness flavor grown the old fashion way.  Thank you again!

Here is the link:  http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1443074396/a-tractor-for-sun-dog-farm?ref=home_location

And here is a link to their website Sun Dog Farm.

This is not a gimmick, it is all done through a project called Kickstarter to give a hand to help someone find the path to make their dreams come true...

Adding a fun little photo, this is not the tractor!

Many hugs and thank you!

Happy March First!

Hi everyone...well it is finally March 1st, 2013, soon we will be seeing signs of spring, in fact the other day I see my daffodils poking their little green arms out of the cold winter earth.  I also heard the cardinals chirping away...I look forward to warmer and brighter days!

Here are a few photos of Springtime in my home!

A rabbit made of straw dressed in burlap, I call him Farmer Brown, he is surrounded with faux beets and carrots and real eggs that the yolks have been removed.  The "brown" egg is actually a gourd, the bird's nest I found while mowing a few years ago along with a Robin's egg.

The next photo is an antique chocolate mold in the shape of a rabbit and next to it I have a real cotton ball!  This is on my old chippy cabinet in the kitchen.

The last photo is my German candy bunny.

A few signs of spring around the house and soon there will be many more signs outside.

Happy March First!

I am still around!

Wow, I have been really negligent in keeping up my blog!  I will give you a photo journey of the highlights since I last posted.

The most exciting was my daughter's wedding in June, it was great to have most of my family all together for this special day.

Of course, every summer I have my grandsons stay for a few months and that is always special, the boys are growing up too fast it seems.

My husband and I also took a trip in October to the farm where I grew up.  I was ten when we moved away from there and it was a bittersweet feeling to go back there, it was something I have wanted to do for many years.  I also went to visit my sister, I had not seen her in years, she lives in upstate New York, that was a very special treat.  I got to see two of my nieces, both so beautiful.

There were issues with the storms, but nothing too damaging for us and there were health issues with my husband, he is now on the mend, thank God!

Now for some photos!  Ready?

I could post a million photos, they have so many, but I am sure you must be bored to death by now.  It was a fun wedding and we all wish we could go back and do it over and over again.  This was in June, 2012.

Did not have much done around the house, had some bead-board installed in the kitchen last year and I already wrote about that! As usual I decorated for the holidays.  Looking forward to warmer weather so I can do some yard work, although age is slowing me down some.

A couple photos of the house.
