Last week we were in Vermont, my home away from home. We went to Sterling College for my son's graduation. It is in the town of Craftsbury Commons, VT, a very unique area and college. Sterling College is not your typical four year college and when my son started there four years ago I was not sure what to make of this school, but after spending a day we all fell in love with the area and the people. I always looked forward driving the 420 plus miles ONE way to go there and visit. It was a bittersweet time, proud of my son but also sad not knowing if we will ever go back that way again. For now he will be spending part of the summer working up there and then he is going to Minnesota where he has spent the last three summers working with black bears. He has always loved the out doors and bears so his degree of BA and Conservation Ecology should work out great for him.
While there we always visit the small town of Greensboro, Vermont, this photo is the main street. The town boast of being the home of Willey's General Store which carries just about everything you may need.
Another place that I LOVE to go to is the Sterling College Farm, I grew up on a farm and still have a fondness for the farm animals and the farm way of life. This photo shows one of the horses that is used for logging, my son, my daughter and me. . .taking a photo to capture the moment. The scenery in the area is breathtaking and no matter how many times I see it, it is never enough. I sometimes think I have maple syrup running through my veins and that I belong in Vermont!

This photo is the Commons at Craftsbury Commons, I must have a dozen or more photos of this church in all seasons. They have a farmer's market and different events at the Commons. The town is very, very tiny! If you want to visit the Town of Craftsbury just go HERE and enjoy the photos. The area is like time stood still, no Walmarts or Targets or Malls, a very simple and basic way of life .

And my son getting an award the evening before graduation. This is a close knit community where everyone is like family. I hope that I will be able to go back there. . .someday soon.
And a word about my header, the Raggedy Ann dolls are mine, I travel with my little dolls, they are like a little bit of my real home away from home, my son made the white bear, the students have to take a fibers class, shear the sheep, was the wool, etc. etc. His friend made the little sheep, when I saw that I just had to have it and thankfully she let me keep it, it is so darn cute. The jar has maple syrup made by the students, from the tapping of the trees to making the sap into syrup, they do it all. My son gave me a gift of a wonderful book, Salt Pork and Apple Pie, it is a photo essay of some of the people in Vermont, the real Vermonters!
Tomorrow I will have more photos of some goodies I bought while in Stowe and Montpelier, so stay tuned for more of my adventurers in Vermont.
