Rag Doll Caper. . .

 House April 2010 021

Saturday was my daughter’s best friend’s surprise baby shower.  As we all know months go into planning any surprise event.  All the plans were finalized except for one, how to get her there without her knowing that she was going to a surprise baby shower.

When she came over to visit about a month ago my daughter and I started a story of how I was going to show my Raggedy Ann dolls to a woman who was interested in purchasing them.  Just a casual conversation and that was the end of that.

Last week she came over and I showed her a finished doll (the one above) and told her that Saturday I was going to meet the woman for lunch, blah, blah and blah.  She listened and said that would should be fun for me.  On Friday night my daughter sent her a text message saying I did not want to drive there by myself since it was an unfamiliar area for me.  My daughter said since it was going to be near where she worked maybe she could join us for lunch.  Her boss was in on the plan along with a co-worker.  The mommy to be works at the hospital where her baby will be born come June!

We had to get to the restaurant early to help set up (my daughter was in charge of making the flower arrangements. . .they were so sweet!) This photo does not do them justice, the flowers were a variety of pinks with a branch that had a tiny bird’s nest and bird.  The baby’s room is going to be pink/browns and the bedding as flowers and branches with birds.  Very sweet!  After the banquet room was ready my daughter and I headed to the hospital to pick her up (there were many text messages back and forth-she did not want to go-had errands to run, etc. etc.)  We finally convinced her to come with us and it would be only about 1 1/2 hours.  I had my doll in the back seat and kept chatting about doll related things.

She was so surprised when we walked in and everyone shouted SURPRISE. . .she cried and said she had no idea she was going to her baby shower, she thought maybe it was going to be in May.

I was happy that my Rag Doll and I were able to be part of the surprise!

The weather was picture perfect and the day was super special.  She received many, many adorable gifts.  They have the cutest baby girl clothes out now, I think new Mommy will be changing baby’s outfits at least 5 times a day so she can wear all the new clothes she was given before she out grows them!
